Teeth
(Episode 18)
Try it at home!
At home …
-
Look through magazines, and have your child point to
pictures of people who keep you healthy (doctors,
dentists, etc.). Count out the pictures, and glue them
to a piece of paper to make a healthy helpers’ collage.
-
Show your child the proper way to brush his or her
teeth:
-
Move the brush back and forth gently across the teeth.
-
Brush all parts of the teeth using the end of the toothbrush to
brush the front teeth in an up-and-down motion.
In the kitchen …
This delicious fruit smoothy is a healthy alternative. Don’t forget to
brush your teeth after!
-
What you’ll need:
28-oz. carton low-fat peach
yogurt
16-oz. can frozen apple juice concentrate
1/2 tsp. almond extract (optional)
4 ice cubes
Add each of the ingredients in the order listed to a
blender. Blend until smooth and creamy. Pour into glasses and serve.
Around town …
-
When you are at the store, make a game finding items that keep your
teeth shiny, white and healthy.
-
Plan a trip to the dentist just to visit and learn. Talk with
dentists and hygienists about what they do every day.
At the library …
While reading, ask your child if he or she can guess
what will happen on the next page. If you are reading a picture book,
ask your child to explain what the pictures mean. After the reading the
book, have your child retell the story in his or her own words.
