Moving Day (Episode 17)
Try it at home!
At home …
-
Work with your child to draw a map of your house. He/She can map out
specific places such as a bedroom, back yard and basement. Give it
to others in the family, and practice using it.
-
Create your own photo album of family and friends. Label each person
for easy reference.
-
If you are moving, assign your children certain responsibilities
such as packing their own toys and labeling boxes.
In the kitchen …
This yummy, gooey snack is great for eating on the go!
-
What you’ll need:
3 tbsp. butter or margarine
30 marshmallows
5 c. sweetened puffed wheat cereal
Nuts, seeds and raisins
Place butter in large microwavable bowl. Microwave on
high until melted. Add marshmallows; toss to coat. Microwave one minute
until marshmallows are completely melted and mixture is well blended,
stirring after 45 seconds. Add cereal and trail mix; toss until evenly
coated. Press cereal mixture into greased 13x9-inch pan. Cool. Cut into
24 bars.
Around town …
-
Visit your local chamber of commerce and collect maps of
your town. Drive or walk around town and practice using
the maps.
-
Visit a fire station and ask for a tour.
At the library …
While reading, ask your child if he or she can guess
what will happen on the next page. If you are reading a picture book,
ask your child to explain what the pictures mean. After the reading the
book, have your child retell the story in his or her own words.
