Farm Animals
(Episode 11)
Try it at home!
At home …
-
Have your child write or tell you instructions for taking care of an
animal.

Have your child write or tell you a list of their
favorite farm animals.

Find pictures of farm animals in magazines. Make a
collage by cutting them out and gluing them on paper.

Cut colored paper into different shapes such as circles,
triangles, squares, diamonds, rectangles, etc. Have your
child shape the paper into a picture of different farm
animals.

Play a game of Duck, Duck, Goose.
In the kitchen …
Hay is used for many things on the farm. It makes a delicious snack for
animals during the day and doubles as a warm bed at night. Make your
very own tasty haystacks at home!

What you’ll need:
Chocolate (melted)
Coconut
Chow mein noodles
In one bowl, mix half the melted chocolate with the
coconut. In another bowl, mix the other half of the chocolate with the
chow mein noodles. Drop the mixtures by spoonfuls onto wax paper to
create mini haystacks. After they harden, enjoy!
Around town …

Head to a local farm for a visit. If you don’t have a farm nearby,
head to the zoo. Identify animals you would find on a farm.
At the library …
While reading, ask your child if he or
she can guess what will happen on the next page. If you are reading a
picture book, ask your child to explain what the pictures mean. After
the reading the book, have your child retell the story in his or her own
words.
