Try it at home!
At home …

Sing songs about dancing, such as the “Hokey Pokey.”

Have your child write or tell you about a dance he or
she particularly enjoys. Draw pictures to illustrate
these examples. Have your child perform the dance for
you. Don’t be afraid to join in!<

Tune in to different types of radio stations (classical,
rock, jazz, country, etc). Have your child dance and
march to the music.

Talk about different kinds of music that make you dance
in different ways.
In the kitchen …
Create a fun and easy treat that does the dancing for you!

What you’ll need:
Any flavor gelatin Cookie cutters
Prepare the gelatin as directed on the box. Pour onto
a cookie sheet with higher sides, and let gelatin set up. When the
gelatin is ready, cut out different shapes with the cookie cutters. Hold
them up, and watch them dance around!
Around town …

Attend a school musical.

Go to the ballet.
At the library …
While reading, ask your child if he or she can guess what will happen on
the next page. If you are reading a picture book, ask your child to
explain what the pictures mean. After the reading the book, have your
child retell the story in his or her own words.
