Dance (Episode 5)
Try it at home!

At home …
  • Sing songs about dancing, such as the “Hokey Pokey.”
  • Have your child write or tell you about a dance he or she particularly enjoys. Draw pictures to illustrate these examples. Have your child perform the dance for you. Don’t be afraid to join in!<
  • Tune in to different types of radio stations (classical, rock, jazz, country, etc). Have your child dance and march to the music.
  • Talk about different kinds of music that make you dance in different ways.

In the kitchen …
Create a fun and easy treat that does the dancing for you!

  • What you’ll need:
    Any flavor gelatin
    Cookie cutters
Prepare the gelatin as directed on the box. Pour onto a cookie sheet with higher sides, and let gelatin set up. When the gelatin is ready, cut out different shapes with the cookie cutters. Hold them up, and watch them dance around!

Around town …

  • Attend a school musical.
  • Go to the ballet.

At the library …
While reading, ask your child if he or she can guess what will happen on the next page. If you are reading a picture book, ask your child to explain what the pictures mean. After the reading the book, have your child retell the story in his or her own words.
