Science
(Episode 4)
Try it at home!
At home …
-
Plant seeds and keep a family plant journal. Experiment for
different results. Keep one plant in the sun and one in the shade.
Water one plant a lot, and water one a little.
-
Make your own volcanoes with baking soda and vinegar. Mix the two
together in a clear plastic cup, and watch it “erupt.”
In the kitchen …
How cold does it have to be for something to freeze? Make these yummy,
juice Popsicles, and find out!
-
What you’ll need:
Any flavor juice
Small, clear, plastic cups
Popsicle sticks
Fill the cups 3/4 full with juice. Let freeze
until firm but not frozen. Insert the Popsicle sticks, and let freeze
all the way. Enjoy!
Around town …
-
Visit a planetarium.
-
Collect rocks in your neighborhood. How many different kinds can you
find? Can you find any fossils?
At the library …
While reading, ask your child if he or she can guess what will happen on
the next page. If you are reading a picture book, ask your child to
explain what the pictures mean. After the reading the book, have your
child retell the story in his or her own words. -
