Health (Episode 2)
Try it at home!
At home …
-
Practice different exercises like jumping jacks,
running, jumping and stretching. Count as you perform
each exercise.
-
Look through magazines, and have your child point to
pictures of people who keep you healthy (doctors,
dentists, etc.). Count out the pictures and glue them to
a piece of paper to make a healthy helpers’ collage.
-
Show your child the proper way to brush his or her teeth:
- Move the brush back and forth gently across the teeth.
-
Brush all parts of the teeth using the end of the toothbrush to
brush the front teeth in an up-and-down motion.
In the kitchen …
Most children don’t voluntarily eat fruits and
vegetables. Try adding different dips for a fun and tasty treat!
- What you’ll need:
Assorted chopped fruits
Assorted chopped veggies
Cream cheese
Peanut butter
Caramel (melted)
Chocolate (melted)
Different yummy salad dressings
Place all of the fruits, veggies and dips on a table
or counter and mix and match to find your favorite combination!
Around town …
-
When you are at the store, make a game finding items that keep you
healthy.
-
Plan a trip to the hospital just to visit and learn. Talk with
doctors and nurses about what they do every day.
At the library …
While reading, ask your child if he or she can guess
what will happen on the next page. If you are reading a picture book,
ask your child to explain what the pictures mean. After the reading the
book, have your child retell the story in his or her own words.
